What scoring methods are available on my Garmin Approach G6?

Last Updated: Jun 21, 2013 01:24PM EDT
The Approach G6 allows for a variety of scoring methods. The available scoring methods are Stroke Play, Stableford, Match Play, and Skins Game.

To set the method of scoring:

Select Setup on Main menu
Touch Scoring
Touch Method
Select the preferred method
The Approach will now score with this method. Below are descriptions for each scoring method.

Stroke Play
Counts the number of strokes a player takes during a round of golf. The winner is determined by the player with the fewest strokes.

Stableford
Player receives points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole relative to par. The winner is determined by the player with the highest points. The point system is:

2 or more over par - 0 points
1 over par - 1 point
Par - 2 points
1 under par - 3 points
Match Play
The player with the fewest strokes per hole will receive one point. The winner is determined by the player with the most points.

Skins Game
The winner is determine by the player who has the fewest strokes at each hole. A prize is usually given at each hole.

With Match Play and Skins Game scoring, the Approach G6 can count the number of strokes to determine the winner or a winner can just be selected. Select No on the Do you want to count strokes? question after one of the two methods is selected, if picking the winner is preferred. Otherwise, choose Yes to count strokes.

Reference the Approach G6 owner's manual for more information on scoring methods.
